How to Prepare a Dieline for Custom Box Printing

What is a Dieline?

A dieline is a flat template that shows the exact cut, fold, and glue lines for your packaging box. It is the blueprint our factory uses to produce your box accurately.

Key Elements of a Dieline

Cut lines show where the material will be cut. Fold lines show where the material will be folded. Glue flaps show where adhesive will be applied. Bleed area (typically 3mm) extends beyond the cut line. Safety margin (5mm) keeps important text away from edges.

How to Prepare Your Dieline

Step 1: Determine your box style. Step 2: Specify internal dimensions in millimeters. Step 3: Choose your material. Step 4: Create the artwork layer separated into dieline, artwork, and finishing layers. Step 5: Request a physical structural sample before production.

At YMBOX, our engineering team provides free dieline templates for all standard box styles.
