How Custom Boxes Are Manufactured: Inside the YMBOX Factory

A custom box passes through at least six production stages before it ships. Here is what actually happens on the floor of our Dongguan facility – the same process behind every order we manufacture.

Step 1: Prepress and CTP plate-making

Artwork is checked for bleed, safety margins and color profile, then output to printing plates by CTP (computer-to-plate). Imposition decides how many boxes print on a sheet – a skill that saves paper and cost on large runs.

Step 2: Offset printing

Our presses – a Komori Lithrone G40, a Roland 700 and a KBA – run 4-color process plus Pantone spot colors. Ink is matched to the approved proof, and sheets are sampled against color standards throughout the run.

Step 3: Finishing

Foil stamping, embossing, spot UV and lamination happen on dedicated equipment before die-cutting, while the sheet is still flat. Each finish is its own pass – this is where luxury packaging earns its feel.

Step 4: Die-cutting and waste stripping

A steel-rule die cuts the sheet into box blanks. Our 1100 and 600 Auto Waste Stripping machines remove the scrap around each blank automatically – clean edges, fast output.

Step 5: Gluing and assembly

Blanks are folded and glued on two gluer lines, or assembled by hand for rigid boxes and complex structures. Insert cards, windows and magnetic closures are fitted here.

Step 6: Quality control and packing

Every order passes in-line inspection and final AQL sampling before packing. Boxes are packed flat (folding cartons) or assembled (rigid) with export-grade cartons, then shipped from Dongguan to 40+ countries.
